Camping Trips - Feb 13 - Feb 20

The latest trip was alone to see my friend Hugh West in Valdosta, GA. His wife was in the last stages of life after a long battle with cancer and I wanted to see her one more time and to be there for my friend. Not the best circumstances for a camping trip but I wanted to include these pictures as I stayed at a few nice RV parks during the trip.

My first stop was in Perry, GA. A nice RV park right off the interstate at exit 127. Twin Oaks RV Park. Very friendly owners, Good Sam discount. Close to the interstate but very little noise. I left the camper hooked up to the truck for the night. Ran the front legs down just to take a little weight off the truck and ran the rear stabilizers down.

Here's another shot of the campsite. If I had pulled up just a little further I would have been able to put the awning out. The weather was mid 60's. I also found my water leak here and had to leave the water turned off.

Next stop was in Lake Park, GA just south of Valdosta, GA at exit 5. Eagles Roost RV Park. A very nice park with complete concrete slabs for parking. Very close to the interstate so the noise is there.

I was able to JUST get a shot through the trees with the satellite. I found the water leak and replaced a cone gasket on the front of the water heater.

I visited the RV Sales store across the interstate to get a patio mat. They wanted $100. I went to Home Depot and got the exact same thing for $56.

One more note! Watch yourself on I-75 just south of Valdosta. I sat and watched the Lowndes County Sheriff's Department set up fake construction signs each morning. The signs said "Utility Construction 1500 feet ahead. Speed Limit 60 MPH". The only thing there was five patrol cars pulling people over. At 5 PM they would take the signs down and go home for the night. Next morning...same thing!

My last stop was at Fair Harbor RV Park in Perry, GA at exit 135 before returning home on Sunday. It was an OK place, but I wish I would have stayed back at Twin Oaks.
