See The USA - Day 6 - Rapid City, SD
July 7, 2005 - We started the day by going to the Reptile Gardens and then a place in Hill City that has dinosaurs and fossils. We went back to the trailer for lunch and decided to take Lady with us on the "drive" tours to Bear Country and Custer State Park.

Here's Debbie at the Reptile Gardens.

And here's me.

This is an iguana.

A Boa is wrapped around the tree right over us.

An American Alligator.

This is Maniac. The largest salt water crocodile in the western hemisphere. He's 18 ft long and weighs over 1100 lbs.

This is a Komodo Dragon.

This is the "Pet the Giant Tortoise" section. Debbie waits for her turn. This one is 100 years old. Around the corner was one that was 124 years old. Their average lifespan is 200!

Very rare to have a bald eagle in captivity. This one can no longer fly because it was shot and wounded.

This is Stan. The second largest T-Rex ever discovered. Or at least this is his head. They're still working on putting the rest of Stan back together.

Here's one of Stan's cousins.

Turn left here Daddy, we need diesel.

Fill 'er up!

American Elk at Bear Country.

This is a real reindeer. But his nose wasn't red.

An Arctic Wolf.

Big Horn Sheep.

A mountain lion.

And lots of bears!

Lady was NOT HAPPY when they walked right up to the truck. In fact, she was shaking!

At the entrance to the Black Hills National Forest.

Way off to the right is Mt Rushmore. I took this picture from the top of a rock on the road to Custer State Park.

This is to the left. We didn't see any buffalo going through Custer State Park. I think it was their day off.
