See The USA - Day 21 - Las Vegas, NV
July 22, 2005 - Wow is it hot here! We made a morning trip over to Camping World to get some reflective insulation for the windows of the camper to keep the heat down. It seems to be working pretty good. I also had to buy a new satellite dish because our old one was vandalized and broken in Oregon. Some people's kids. I got the new dish put up and we now have our satellite TV back. We took a daytime drive around our old haunts and found the two houses we used to live in. Amazing, they're still there and haven't been plowed under for condos. I had a little problem with my internet card yesterday. After 45 minutes on the phone with Verizon we finally got it straightened out.

Here's the entrance to Nellis AFB. They've changed it a lot in the last 15 years.

Las Vegas Motor Speedway. When I raced here it was a dumpy little dragstrip with a generator for power. Now it's a Super Speedway.

This is the first house we lived in when we moved to Vegas. It doesn't look much different, just a little dumpier. I guess the Homeowner's Assn has relaxed their rules. Notice the Christmas decorations still up.

This is the second house we lived in. The first one got sold and we had to move. We figured this one would have been plowed under by now. But it seems the owners have improved it a little bit. The "slum lord" we rented from wouldn't put a dime into it.

This wall runs in front of the house. It used to be filled with graffiti. Seems they've sand blasted it. Stephanie, this is the wall you remember (for some unknown reason).

Another rain storm in Vegas. We travel all across the country and the only place we get rained on (other than a late night shower) is in Vegas.

Total Miles driven today: 59
Today's Avg MPG 15.0
Total Trip Miles: 4638
Tomorrow's Plans: Riding around
I probably will not update again till we are on the move. Our plans are to take a shuttle up to the strip to see all the new hotels and casinos. I hear they have really gone overboard and there is a lot of neat stuff to see. However, cameras are not allowed in any casino so it's pointless to try to take one and hide it in my pocket. Especially since it won't fit. We should be leaving on Monday so stay tuned!
