See The USA - Day 16 - Sisters, OR
July 17, 2005 - Our friends Bill and Robin Lewis picked us up at the campground about 11 AM and away we went on a full day. We went up to Mt Bachelor to ride the ski lift up to the top of the mountain. Rode around and saw a lot of nice scenery. For dinner, they chose a restaurant (and I use the term loosely) that was a two hour drive from here. Well, you'll just have to see for yourself in the pictures!

This is Mt. Bachelor. That's where we're headed.

This is the ski lodge at the base of the mountain.

We'll ride the chair lift up to the top of the mountain.

I took this on the ride up.

At the top, this is the view of the Three Sisters lined up. The one to the right is not a mountain. It's just a bump.

This is the view to the west toward the coast. That is the Cascade Mountain Range.

This is the ride down on the chair lift.

We stopped by one of the MANY lakes around the mountains.

This is the Cowboy Dinner Tree Restaurant. Yes. It is a shack. Believe it or not, people come here from hundreds of miles away to eat. And reservations normally are months in advance.

This is the waiting room. It is a real teepee.

Our table was ready so we didn't have to use the waiting room.

There is no menu. It's Beef or Chicken. The meal starts with a huge bowl of salad. Then the mid-meal which is black bean soup and rolls. Then the main course. That is one huge hunk of beef. I could only eat half of it. A great meal although a long trip to get there. And a very unique restaurant.

Total Miles driven today: unknown, traveled with friends.
Today's Avg MPG ?
Total Trip Miles: 3534
Notes: I have a REAL slow internet connection here and may hold further updates until we leave. We expect to leave here on Wednesday.
Tomorrow's Plans: More of the tourist thing!
