Camping Trips Dec 26 - Jan 2

Our first shakedown cruise with the new Sprinter was on Thanksgiving weekend. Just a quick trip to Tunica, MS for some get away time. No camera. The day after Christmas, we loaded up and headed south for some warmer weather. the morning we left it was 22 degrees in Tennessee and I had to beat the Lynx Levelers out of the ground because they were frozen! Here's some pictures from the trip.

Our first stop was in Knoxville, AL at Knox Hill RV Park. Just an overnight stopover. Knox Hill is a growing park that is close to the interstate but the trees block most of the noise. Hint: Bring food or prepare for a 20 mile trip into Tuscaloosa to eat!

The staff at Knox Hill is extremely friendly and helpful. The park needs some work but you can tell they are working to have a nice place. Definitely a good place to stopover at.

I love the privacy fence, the patio between each site and the lounge furniture. It was a bit cool to sit outside but I'd like to come back in warmer weather and enjoy the "patios" they have set up at each site.

Our next stop was at one of our favorite campgrounds. Buccaneer State Park in Waveland, MS. We love the gulf coast and come here often. Although it's a bit far from Gulfport/Biloxi (30 miles) it's worth it to stay at such a great campground and at only $14 a night. By this time, the weather had warmed up and was in the mid 60's and low 70's in the daytime. Sure beat them 20's we left in TN!

Lady has turned out to be a real camper. She absolutely loves to go and she travels well in the truck. She still has to get used to people walking by the campsite though. She gets "ferocious".

I set up the satellite dish but it was a waste of time in this site. I couldn't get a signal for the trees so we had to settle for local channels and the DVD. Really "rufnit".

After three nights in Waveland, we moved north to Tunica, MS and pulled into the Grand RV park about 4 o'clock PM the day before New Years Eve. It's not really a great campground but it's an okay place to stay and it has full hookups and a clear shot for the satellite. You can see the black streak down the side of the camper. I lost a "high speed" clothes pin somewhere down the road.

Normally the Grand rate is $17 per night but since it was New Year's weekend it was $25. But it sure beat the Hollywood Casino RV park. Their normal rate is $10 per night but they gouged people that weekend for $50 each night. We left Sunday Jan 2 and headed home after a weeks trip. We DID NOT want to end the trip but it was time to go back to the grind.
