STATE PARKS

DeSoto State Park - Fort Payne, AL (Times Visited = 1)
Another great Alabama State Park! Several sites with full hookup and many large sites. I think we had the best one in Site 66 with a huge side yard.
Would we go back? You Bet!

Joe Wheeler State Park - Rogersville, AL (Times Visited = 2)
A great state park! Almost all sites have full hook up. Three separate campground areas. Big rig access. Some sites are small and the park fills up quick in the Summer.
Would we go back? You Bet!

Wind Creek State Park - Alexander City, AL (Times Visited = 2)
Very large park. Has the most campsites of any state park in the US. Over 1100 I believe. Wide variance of campsites, some are concrete, some are grass. Big rig friendly and many sites are right on the water. Gated entry.
Would we go back? You Bet!

Oak Mountain State Park - Birmingham, AL (Times Visited = 1)
A nice state park. Big sites and easy access. Clean and well maintained.
Would we go back? You Bet!

RV PARKS

Knox Hill RV Resort - Knoxville, AL (Times Visited = 1)
Well, not exactly a resort. However it is clean with a nice view. Close to the interstate but very little noise. Concrete patio at each site with privacy fence. Owners are very nice and helpful.
Would we go back? Yes.

Deer Run RV Park - Troy, AL (Times Visited = 1)
Very nice park. Owners are constantly improving it and adding new things. Pond, and two more being built. Newspapers in the morning. A good camping experience.
Would we go back? You Bet!

The Woods RV Park - Montgomery, AL (Times Visited = 1/2)
We never even actually stayed overnight at this park. We actually left and they begrudgingly gave us our money back. If you like camping in a field, this is it. The site we were sent to would not even fit our trailer much less the truck. The roads are dirt and the place was a mudhole. I admit that they had a lot of rain the day before but with no rock on the roads we were spinning tires all the way through, hoping not to get stuck. One more note...when they designed the park, they put the power boxes right NEXT to the sites. If you have slides, forget it, you'll have to park off the narrow site to get them out.
Would we go back? Not a Chance In The World!

Windrift Campground - Shorter, AL (Times Visited = 1)
Exit 22 on I-85 east of Montgomery. This is a great stopover place for the night. A small park with only about 25 sites. A few back ins right by the pond and several large pullthrus. Registration is at the convenience store. This is a no frills park but great for a place to rest. 50 amp, water and sewer.
Would we go back? You Bet!
