Journal - January 2012

January 31, 2012 - The weather here greatly improved in January. There were still a few cool cloudy days but for the most part we had warm temps. Now we're gearing up to head out in a couple weeks. Saturday we took a day trip up to Alice, TX to meet some friends from our Challenger club at a Bar B Que place. Had a nice drive up and a good meal with friends before returning to the valley. Finally got the tile put on the new countertop so that little project is finally complete. It's VERY difficult to find someone down here that not only does good work but speaks ENGLISH. Amazing, inside the United States that it's difficult to find someone that SPEAKS ENGLISH. Hello....this is NOT Mexico!! Even the billboards here are in Spanish only. The signs on the walls of Burger King are also only in Spanish. Enough about that...my blood pressure is rising^^^^^. I've had Stephanie keeping busy at the house by opening and closing the gates for UPS and freight deliveries. As soon as we get back we're going to start laying the flooring in the two back bedrooms, the hall way, the closets and the dining room. As soon as that's done we'll have the living room, our bedroom and the family room carpeted. Our neighbor is at work installing the new sliding door in the family room and pouring a concrete sidewalk from the motorhome to the patio. That should be done by the time we get there. I also had a new grill delivered to the house. It's just like the one we have in the Valley but it's a 6 burner instead of a four burner. I'll put a generic picture below, not the actual one because it's still in the shipping crate. Everyone knows I have a grill fetish. I now have five. What can I say, it's an addiction. With Debbie it's purses, with me it's grills. Each one has a specific purpose and all are needed.

Day Trip New Pantry and Counter Weber Summit S-620

January 1, 2012 - Happy New Year! Only 355 more days until the world ends on Dec 21st. Well we had four nice days in a row!!! How exciting! And then we woke up to rain, cold and wind. Now THAT'S the Texas we know and love! FINALLY got the cabinets finished in the casita. We had a pantry added with a countertop and had doors put on the existing cabinets that never had doors...go figure. And back at the house in Pahrump, my neighbor Lonnie was busy getting our new gate put in so we can get the motorhome in easily. This will also allow our friends with fifth wheels to be able to get in and out also. The original gates at the house are WAY too narrow to get a fifth wheel in. Now it will be easy. So drop on in when we're there. Full hookups and great company with a beautiful view and great weather. We'll be leaving Texas on Feb 17th making a slow trip back to Nevada. We'll be staying about 11 days at Lazy Days in Tucson. My annual trip to a golf tournament. This year it's the Accenture Match Play that I've wanted to go to for a long time. Then a Foreigner concert in Tucson on March 1st...another bucket list item. Then we'll stop for a couple nights in Mesa, AZ to see Bob and Nancy then on to Pahrump on the 4th of March. We'll hang out there until the 7th of June or so before heading east to make my Doctor's Mercedes payment.
