Full Timing Journal - September 2009

September 22, 2009 - A little catching up to do. We left Gulf Shores on the 8th and stopped for three nights at the Silver Slipper RV Park in Waveland, MS. Supposed to be "right on the beach" but in reality there was a road between the park and the beach with constant traffic to and from the casino. Very high priced at $41 per night. We left there on Friday and stayed overnight in Kinder, LA at the Coushatta Casino RV Park, a better experience once we got a site that the power worked. We stayed overnight at Gateway to the Gulf RV Park in Victoria, TX on that Saturday and headed into Mission on Sunday. Spent the first couple days getting "stuff" moved from the motorhome to the casita and the Everest. The Everest had been in storage for over two years and we had it moved here to our lot in April. Amazingly, everything (except the battery) worked and we were able to move in once I got the trailer moved back a bit. Some people can't follow instructions, the transporter was given "exact" instructions on where to park the Everest on our lot, he decided to put it where HE wanted and I couldn't get one of the slides out. It took a couple days but I found someone in the park that still had their hitch in the bed and he moved it back for me. Now we're just settling in for the winter. Today we're getting rain so the mosquitoes will be rough for awhile again. They had just about died off after the last rains. At least the temps have fallen back to "reasonable" levels.

September 6, 2009 - Wow, this park turned into a zoo on Labor Day weekend. 5 year olds outnumber adults by 5 to 1. I've never seen so many big wheels, training wheels and toys in my life. Come on Tuesday!!

September 4, 2009 - We've been hanging out in Gulf Shores, AL for almost 4 weeks now. The weather has been pretty warm and the humidity high. The seafood here has been incredible. Doc's Seafood Shack has some of the best we've ever had. Their seafood gumbo ranks #1 as the best I've ever had. But, we're ready to leave and get back on the road. The park here is excellent and we will definitely return. We'll be leaving on Tuesday after Labor Day and heading to Waveland, MS. There's a new casino built right on the gulf with an RV Park. The front sites look out over the Gulf. Should be a nice place to stay for a few days. Then we'll be heading west toward Texas. Below is a picture of our site here at Gulf Breeze.
