August 21, 2009 - After leaving Stephanie in Georgia, we
headed down to Gulf Shores, AL. We're at a REALLY nice place
called Gulf Breeze. Reasonably priced at $445 for the month
including electricity. The weather here is hotter than we
thought it would be and thunderstorms are a daily occurrence,
sometimes numerous times a day. We're getting our fill of
seafood though. It doesn't get any better than Gulf Shores for
good eating. Now for my rant... Someone please tell me the logic behind the cars for clunkers
thing?? Why are OUR tax dollars being spent so people can buy
FOREIGN cars? Why are we subsidizing foreign companies? Is this
administration TOTALLY INSANE????? If you want to stimulate the
auto industry, at least restrict it to AMERICAN CARS ONLY.
Sheesh. And another thing, isn't DEBT what got this country into
the mess we're in right now? If a person can only afford a
"clunker", why are we using our tax dollars to allow
them to buy a new car that they can't afford?? Granted, not
everyone who is buying can't afford a new car, but I would bet
that MOST of them can't. Isn't this what got the housing market
in the toilet?? The government forcing mortgage companies to
loan money to broke people so they could buy houses they
couldn't afford?? Do we not learn our lessons? Definition of
insanity...doing the same thing over and over again and
expecting a different result.
