July 30, 2009 - We've been down here for
almost two weeks now. The knee surgery is done and Debbie is
being the "caregiver" while I hang out at the RV. Not
sure when we'll be leaving. Most likely we'll go down to Gulf
Shores, AL and then slowly make our way back to Texas in
September.

July 20, 2009 - While in Michigan, Stephanie
(the daughter) informed us of her upcoming knee surgery.
Therefore we left "cool" Michigan and headed south to
"hot and muggy" Georgia. We arrived in Perry, GA with
the intention of staying a month at Fair Harbor RV Park. We have
stayed there before and it was doable. The problem we ran into
here is that are very few sites that have afternoon shade AND a
clear shot for satellite. We stayed one night and asked to move
to another site for the month. The management there was just
downright RUDE and would not let us move to one of the 40 sites
they have down front. They're OVERNIGHT sites, not monthly
sites. Sure, we saw two overnighters come in. We voted with our
wallet and moved up to exit 142 to Ponderosa Campground. The
first few days we could only have a 30 amp site but by Friday a
50 amp opened up and we moved down a few spots.

July 12, 2009 - We moved up to Hillman, MI last Monday to
Thunder Bay RV and Golf Resort. What a well kept secret this is.
23 sites and we never saw more than 9 rigs here at once ( and NO
KIDS). Nice big sites with grass. Asphalt parking with patio and
patio furniture. With our Escapees discount it was $198 for the
week. A BARGAIN for this place. Wide open for satellite and
decent cell phone coverage. Maybe next year we'll e-mail all our
camping friends that spend their summers up here and have a
rally here. They have a large area set up for meetings with a
cloth cover and a community firepit. The middle picture below
was taken in front of our site. It's the 3rd green and fairway.

July 4, 2009 - USA RIP. 233 years after we fought to
throw off a monarchy we have come full circle as a nation. This
is a day we used to celebrate our independence, today we can
only celebrate what used to be and mourn the loss of our nation.
The people have elected a new monarch to rule them. One that
spits on the constitution as if it were merely a suggestion on
how our country should be run. Democracy is dead. One man rule
has come to America. One man tells the corporations how much
they should pay their employees. One man controls most of the
major banks. One man controls most of the American auto
industry. One man decides that we should be taxed on the very
air that we breathe to pay for those who won't lift a finger and
expect the One Man to take care of their every need and want.
This is a time when there is no incentive to succeed as the One
Man will take your hard earned pay and hand it out to those who
do nothing.

July 2, 2009 - Okay, it's JULY now. Why are we still
wearing SWEAT SHIRTS AND JACKETS!! Last week we had two days of
low 90's weather and then back to RAIN, COLD, CLOUDS AND WIND.
As I type, it's 11 AM and 57 degrees on July 2. If we didn't
already have reservations and plans we would be headed to the
deep south immediately. I've had enough of Michigan weather.
