Full Timing Journal - July 2007

July 29, 2007 - Enough is enough. 11 straight days of rain and we headed East. We decided to attend the Everest Owners Rally in Goshen, IN later in August so we headed east toward TN.

July 26, 2007 - I don't know how much longer we can stand this RAIN. Except for the first day, it's rained almost continually since we got to San Antonio. We may just pull up stakes and head out of here!

July 18, 2007 - Finally we're out of Livingston. We arrived in Boerne, TX, just north of San Antonio, yesterday and paid for a month. We have business here in SA and a lot of good eating to do here. Livingston was a real dry spell when it comes to good restaurants. The weather was rainy when we got here but it cleared up nicely and the temp and humidity were low. It was nice sitting outside for a change. In Livingston, you sweated, burned up and were eaten by mosquitoes.

July 13, 2007 - Boy what a time we've had here in Livingston. I'm going to write all of it down and make a special section of the website called "Becoming A Texan". We FINALLY got the car and the motorhome registered, Debbie has her TX license and I'll have mine on Monday after the driving test in the motorhome. It's been a long ugly five days here so far, including the car getting slammed in the back by a person who obviously had no brakes. Luckily, there was no damage to either vehicle. They sure do build cars better than they used to!!

July 7, 2007 - We left Wichita, KS on our way to Livingston, TX. My original plan was to stop halfway (about 300 miles) but you know what they say about best laid plans. When the halfway mark came up, it was only 1 o'clock so we decided to go on into Texas and find a place to stay just before Dallas. Believe it or not, we found NOTHING for 200 miles! There is a severe lack of RV Parks from the TX/OK state line all the way to Houston. We did find a few parks on I-45 but it seems none of them have an OFFICE and no way to pay for a site. We cruised right through two of them and FINALLY found Home On The Range RV Park in Madisonville, TX. I'm too old for 11 hour travel days! Now we're only an hour and a half from Livingston. Once there, we will stay a week and get the car and the motorhome registered, get TX driver's licenses and then head for San Antonio for at least a week.

July 3, 2007 - We left Colorado on Sunday and stayed overnight in Oakley, KS. The next day we headed to Wichita. We found a nice little private park just north of Wichita and decided to stay until Saturday. It's a small park with a few mobile homes and about 20 RV sites. Not very well known so it's peaceful and mostly empty. Lots of grass and long pull through sites. A very informal type of place.
