May 25, 2007 - On the Road! May 22, 2007 - We got the word. Debbie will be laid off on Wednesday! Hooray, we're headed out! Friday morning we're ON THE ROAD. May 15, 2007 - The house and garage are empty. We moved the motorhome to Chapel Hill on Sunday. The realtor called last night and was showing the house at 7 PM. Sale or not, we'll be on the road soon. The rumor mill at Debbie's job has her possibly laid off by Memorial Day weekend. That would be a godsend. I am SO ready to get on the road. We're really looking forward to meeting up with our friends George and Wilma out in Colorado. It's also getting hot and humid in TN and it's exceeding my tolerance level of 80 degrees! May 10, 2007 - We went down to Perry, GA last weekend and moved the Everest into storage down there. While we're out west this winter, we'll be looking for a lot to put it on. We love the motorhome for traveling but when it comes to sitting for a while, you can't beat the "hominess" of the Everest. The house is mostly empty. What's left is leaving this weekend with our son. There are a few things left that friends are coming to get from the garage. Then one more dump run and we should be done. We turned the house over to a realtor. We had quite a few calls, mostly tire kickers. Let's hope the realtor can do something. So far, they seem to only rely on the internet and one sign in the yard. I could have done that. You would think they would at least put a sign at the end of our road by the MAIN ROAD so people would know there's property for sale down here. Next week we'll be moving over to Chapel Hill to River Road RV Park to wait out the end of Debbie's job, probably mid June. Then we'll be off to meet up with our friends George and Wilma in Colorado. April 4, 2007 - The garage is mostly cleared out except for a huge pile to go to the dump. We have moved into the motorhome and parked it at a monthly site in Chapel Hill, TN. It's easier to move out of the house when you're not living in it. So basically, we are full time now. This weekend I'll finish up in the garage and Debbie will continue to pack up the house. March 11, 2007 - Big steps this weekend toward getting the property ready to sell. Danny came home for the weekend and helped me get the garage cleaned out. Still a lot more to do but we knocked a good dent in it. Made four trips to storage and six trips to the dump. After Danny left I worked in the garage all day today and have another two loads ready to go to the dump. Feb 6, 2007 - I guess this is as good a time as any to begin the countdown. On the home page there is a countdown clock, it's leading up to July 1st when we will move out of the house and into the motorhome. I'm in the process of cleaning out the garage of "junk" and packing the other stuff in plastic containers and hauling them to storage. After two weekends, it hardly looks like I've put a dent in it but I know I have. I've separated the containers to "our stuff" and "the kid's stuff" in the storage room I rented in Fosterville. The main part of the stuff has been removed now and mostly throw away is left. I'll start making dump runs this weekend. I should have the garage completely cleaned out by April. Once the trees bloom out, the "For Sale" sign goes in the front yard. We'll try to sell the house ourselves until July 1, then we'll move out of the house and turn the keys over to a realtor. Stephanie will be home around the 1st of July as well for her 30 days leave before heading to Korea for a year. We hope to do some traveling while she is here with us.
